This book fair is unlike any you’ve seen before! Get your little book lovers together and get ready to find some treasures. With over 50 dealers selling rare, new, used, antiquarian books, signed and collectible editions, vintage children’s books, paper ephemera and more, there will be no shortage of fascinating and unique things to browse. Proceeds benefit Oregon’s children’s literacy charities. $3 (for both days),

Take Dad out for family day at the Oregon Brewfest at the Oregon Botanical Garden! Check out 60 brewers pouring 120 beers, ciders and meads from all across Oregon and the country, enjoy great live music, lots of food and shopping at the Brewfest Market. Kids are allowed all day Sunday and there will be lots of fun kids’ activities for them to enjoy. $5-30,

About Ruth Plourde

It was the summer of 2015, and Ruth had had it up to here (read: her eyeballs) with east coast livin’, sensing that, for her, Philadelphia might be more lovable from afar. Perhaps she had listened to Tom Waits’ Goin’ Out West two too many times that day, or perhaps dreams of wine country, the Cascades, and temperate rain forests had finally stolen her heart, but once she bought that plane ticket to Portland, OR, there was no going back. Ruth is a barista by day and a poet by night/lunch break. She is currently working on her first poetry collection to be published sometime this year. She couldn’t be happier to be interning for NW Kids Magazine and to be a part of the NW Kids community!
