Summer 2017 is nowhere close to being over! We have another gorgeous weekend in the forecast (and even a bit of a cool down?) and, from fairs to food to fun reptiles, you’ve got you covered on what to do with the family!

All Weekend

20th Annual Elephant Garlic Festival

Head to North Plains for a weekend full of music, fun, great eats and GARLIC!! This free event is fun for the whole family and includes craft vendors, a play area for the kiddos and even a 10k run/5k walk!   Fri 12PM – 11PM, Sat 10AM – 11PM, Sun 10AM – 6PM, free.

The Fascinating World of Reptiles

Head to the Fairview-Columbia Library for a free event with the Reptile Man, aka Richard Ritchey and meet his outstanding crew of snakes, lizards, turtles and tortoises! Richard has been winning the rapt attention of audiences throughout the Pacific Northwest for over 20 years and has assembled a traveling collection of scaled predators that is unrivaled in quality and reputation. 10:15am-11:15am, free.

Pan African Festival of Oregon

Head to Pioneer Courthouse Square for the 1st Pan African Festival, which aims to bring together people from Africa, African-Americans and Caribbeans for a day filled with entertainment, African food/clothing, informational booths, panel discussion and more. The goal beyond that is to celebrate and illuminate the hidden treasures of the Pan African community in Portland. There will be live entertainment, storytelling, food, art and so much more! 12pm-8:30pm, free.


Kids Obstacle Challenge

Kids Obstacle Challenge is an adventure and obstacle course event series for kids ages 5-16, with 10-15 fun and challenging obstacles and lots of mud! Kids Obstacle Challenge is designed for kids to push their limits and reach new heights! Participants can rope swing into a giant mud pit, army crawl through tough terrain, scale up rugged cargo nets, and slide into a muddy paradise! Don’t miss the chance for your kiddos to achieve their goals and get covered in mud! Prepare to Brave Your Adventure this summer and have some muddy family fun! India Festival 2017

Bring your friends and family and head back to Pioneer Courthouse Square for a free taste of Indian Culture! Get ready to experience a day of back-to-back dances, musical performances, and food from Portland’s finest Indian restaurants. Pioneer Courthouse Square, 11am-9pm, free.
