The Short List: Aug 18-20

The temperatures are back to normal, the smoke has cleared and we still have three weekends to go before Labor Day! Here are some of the events that we’re considering this weekend!

Aug 18

Free Open Swim at Pier Park

Our families are enjoying the cooler temps and have been having so much fun with Portland Parks and Rec’s free open swims this summer! Friday’s open swim is at Pier Pool! 1:45-4:30pm, free. portlandoregon.gov

Aug 19

Multnomah Days

Multnomah Village is full of character and it is all on parade at the annual Multnomah Days celebration! This year’s event kicks off at 8am with the Kiwanis Pancake breakfast, but the fun goes all day. Enjoy booths, a parade, food, a beer garden and music! 8am-10pm, free. multnomahvillage.org

 

Corgi Walk in the Pearl

The Corgi Walk in the Pearl began 10 years ago by dog fancier Lynde Paule, who wished to create a venue to raise money to care for injured, abused, abandoned, or neglected dogs, specifically Corgis. It has grown into an annual fundraiser for the Oregon Humane Society and last year over $10,ooo was raised! Even if you don’t have a Corgi, this is such a fun event to watch (and you can donate too). 9am-12pm, $25 for the first corgi and $10 for each additional. corgiwalk.com

 

Seabrook Annual Gnome Festival

Seabrook, WA is celebrating its 6th annual Gnome Festival with live music, a bike parade and kid-friendly activities! Decorate a gnome hat, sample sangria and cheese (yes, please!) and listen to music from kid faves The Not-Its! 11am-4pm, free. seabrookwa.com

Eclipse Traffic Jam

Join families from all over the nation in the largest traffic jam Oregon has ever seen as we all seek out the one spot that we are sure nobody else has thought of along the path of eclipse totality! All Day event, free. oregon.gov (We jest, but please stay safe and heed all of the warnings about arriving early and staying late!)
