Scandinavian Midsummer Festival

It is a tradition of the north lands to warm up after a long, cold winter with a midsummer celebration. Join together with good friends, family and food and enjoy the longest day of the year! Scandinavian roots are not required, this is a festival for all to enjoy. Decorate the Maypole, enjoy Nordic foods, indulge in live music and dancing and feast your eyes on festival greeters in traditional Scandinavian dress. Kids under 11 free. $8-17, scanheritage.org

FINDpdx Summer Edition

Remember that scene in Cast Away when all those packages wash up on the beach? This event is kind of like that, except you don’t have to get deserted on an island to tear into some mystery packages. Bradley Angle, through a partnership with a local shipping company, is the beneficiary of a huge donation of undeliverable packages containing any items you might order online. All items will be sold at 50% off the lowest retail price, and sales benefit Bradley Angle, a non-profit that supports survivors of domestic violence. Free, facebook.com

June 11

On the Move 10th Anniversary

On the Move is a local non-profit that supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and helps integrate them into their communities through healthful and meaningful activities. This weekend they are celebrating ten years as a non-profit in Portland and they want you to join them! No donations necessary, just come and enjoy food provided by Cheryl’s on 12th, games and entertainment in Laurelhurst Park. Free, eventbrite.com

PDX Culture Keepers Festival

It’s time to get cultured! This weekend, take the family out to experience and witness cultural traditions from around the world. Portland Metro Area folk artists will be joining together to bring festival-goers authentic cultural experiences like Kenyan cooking techniques, Estonian folk dance, interactive demonstrations of Oaxacan weaving, Coquille/Coos canoe paddle carving and more.
