Summer 2016 Portland Street Fair Guide

One of the things I first fell in love with about Portland is the seemingly endless schedule of street fairs throughout the summer months. If you’re like me and are looking forward to getting out and mingling with the good people, jamming out to local music, and soakin’ in summer, peruse this list to find out what’s happening when. Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts

Curated by Lakewood Center for the Arts, this festival celebrates all things art and is a major regional event. There will be multiple art exhibits in the Lakewood Center, Art in the Park at George Rogers Park (across the street), hands-on activities, demonstrations, food, music and the Martini Mingle, where the of-agers get a chance to meet and greet with participating artists. lakewood-center.org

McMinnville Turkey Rama

If there’s one thing that screams summer, it’s a good ol’ fashioned BBQ. This festival, now in its 56th year, boasts the world’s largest turkey barbeque! Hoo-ey, that sounds good. As if that’s not enough, there’s also a turkey trot, beer garden, a Friday night street dance, a Vendor Village and more. mcminnville.org

Mississippi Ave Street Fair

This yearly festival is held in honor of all the local residents and businesses that make Mississippi Avenue the awesome place that it is. Head on up to chow down on some fabulous local eats, drink good beer and get your groove on to the many bands that will be performing. Proceeds benefit SEI and Boise-Eliot School. mississippiave.com

Division-Clinton Street Fair

This one-day fair celebrates the unique scene along the Division-Clinton stretch. The day kicks off with a parade at 10:45am, starting at SE 50th and Division. Festivities will be scattered throughout the district as well as inside many participating businesses. divisionclinton.com

Oregon City First City Celebration

Did you know Oregon City was the first city of the Oregon Territory? If you think that’s cool, head out to this festival to dance to live music, munch on food from local restaurants and vendors and raise a glass of Oregon wine to this historical place. The first date is an evening concert, while the second date will feature more of the festival attractions. Bonus: Kids’ Activity Zone! downtownoregoncity.org

This street fair is chock full of all things family-friendly: Lents International Farmers Market, children’s area with a big bouncy castle, face painting, live music, games, beer garden, the Belmont goats, free bike repair, community booths and a chicken beauty contest. Fremont Fest

Now in its 30th year, this festival has a well-established reputation for being a super fun family day. Check out the adorable-ness of the kid, bike and pet parade at 10am, and follow that up with kids’ activities for the youngsters and a pub crawl for the big people. Alberta Street Fair

Hosted by Alberta Main Street, this festival takes place in the beloved Alberta Street district and showcases the best entertainment this neighborhood has to offer. With three stages of live music, a kids parade and kids’ corner, beer garden and wine tasting, food and so much more, this is definitely a day to put on your calendar. albertamainst.org

Multnomah Days

Scope out Multnomah Village, the area that some have referred to as “Portland’s Best-Kept Secret,” with this one-day celebration. Capitol Highway will close down and fill with booths and vendors, and two stages will be filled with music. There will also be a kids’ zone at the Multnomah Arts Center and a wine and beer garden! multnomahvillage.org

Festa Italiana Portland

Held at the Pioneer Courthouse Square, this three-day festival celebrates Italian-American culture in Portland. Party the Italian way with non-stop live entertainment and music, food, wine and beer gardens, a raffle and much more. Bonus: Italian opera on Thursday night! festa-italiana.org

Hawthorne Street Fair

Hawthorne Boulevard is definitely another one of Portland’s hot spots, drawing crowds from all walks of life to its bustling sidewalks. Support this poppin’ scene by coming out to this street fair for great food, two beer gardens, live music, kids’ activities and more. hawthornepdx.com

Art in the Pearl has been named one of the top ten arts and crafts festivals in the country (Art Fair Source Book). This festival brings together art, theater, music and hands-on crafts for people of all ages into one weekend full of imagination, creativity, and fun. Belmont Street Fair

Last but definitely not least, Belmont Street wraps up the summer street fair season. Get out in the crowds one more time for some live music, good food, and great shopping (over 200 vendors!).
