Events and Outings

Does your family have traditions for the weekend after Thanksgiving? My family’s unofficial weekend plans generally are centered around eating leftover sandwiches, napping and… well, eating more leftover sandwiches! If you’re looking to get out and about, here are our weekend picks!

A Midsummer Night’s Dream @ The Portland Ballet

The Portland Ballet presents John Clifford’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a witty confection of a ballet, on Thanksgiving weekend. The magic begins with excited buzzing in the enchanted forest and ends with a grand pas de deux to celebrate a royal wedding. Along the way, fairies feud and stir up mischief, a merry buffoon turns into a donkey, and the queen of the fairies falls in love with him. The PSU orchestra and soloists from PSU’s acclaimed opera program perform Mendelssohn’s gorgeous music live at every concert. See website for times, $10-$38. nwkidsmagazine.com/events
